Soledad M. Lizama, 83 SIERRA VISTA—Soledad (Mesngon) Lizama, 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her husband, her children, and her most precious grand and great grandkids on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Soledad, the daughter of the late Antonio and Beatrice (Kisa) Mesngon, was born in Rota, Mariana Islands on February 26, 1935. Soledad called Rota home.

Rota is where she learned the values of culture, tradition, and most especially the love and care for family. She moved to Toto, Guam and became active member and communicant Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where she not only raised her nine (9) children but the community, as well. She was “The Best Cook in the World,” and an amazing seamstress (self-taught).

Her favorite hobbies were to play bingo and “Pares and 5,000” – family card games. Her most important job, and her biggest passion in life was caring for entire family (immediate and extended). She was affectionately called “Mom” or “Grandma” by everyone who knew her.

She was and still is so LOVED. Soledad resided in Sierra Vista for the past 25 years and was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. In addition to her parents Soledad was predeceased by her two daughters, Maria M. and Loretta M. Lizama, grandson, John W. Lizama along with her two brothers and sister, Ignacio K. Mesngon, Josepha M. Mangolona; and Antonio K. Mesngon.

She is survived by her husband, Vicente Charfouros Lizama; children: Rosalinda “Rose” L. Sablan (Alfred), Ignacio M. Lizama (Madeleine), Rita L. Hicks, Vicente M. Lizama (June), Benita M. Lizama, Vivian L. Cruz (William Gerard “Jerry”), Clare Marie L. Aguon, Joseph M. Lizama (Debby), and John Fabian M. Lizama; brothers: Vito K and Juan K. Calvo Her most precious survivors, her joy in life, and whom she lived for were her 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; along with many nieces and nephews. You may pay your last respect for Soledad “Mom” Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 South Highway 92, Sierra Vista, with Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. Mass for of Christian Burial for Mom is at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 Taylor Drive, Sierra Vista. Rites of Committal and Interment for Mom will follow in Cochise Memory Gardens, Charleston Road, Sierra Vista.
