Mr. Sonny Smith, 86, of Philadelphia passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born April 9, 1932 in Swainsboro, Ga. to the late Sonnie Smith and Donnie Bright Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers and 8 sisters. Mr. Smith served in the United States Army. He enjoyed sports, traveling, and coming to back Swainsboro to spend time with his family.

Mr. Smith was a member of Ohoopee Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his brother, David Smith (Pearl) of Dublin, Ga. ; sisters, Rosa Williams (Jerry) of Swainsboro, Garnett Jones of Houston, TX.

, Lula Brown of Bridgeton, NJ. , and Alzenia Hamlin of Upper Marlboro, MD. ; special friend, Mary Robinson of Philadelphia, PA.

; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral Services will be in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 with Reverend Alan Moss officiating. Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Chapman Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Walter Stapleton, Dennis Coney, Terry Odom, Jerry Williams, and Lawyer L. Johnson. Condolences may be expressed at www.
