Obituary of Sr. Airman Lawrence Manlapit III Senior Airman Lawrence P. Manlapit, III, age 26, currently of Boise, Idaho and formerly of Bridgeport passed away suddenly on June 16, 2018 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Fort Stewart, Georgia on July 21, 1991, he was the beloved son of Dorine Hensley Norko and her husband Tom of Bridgeport and Lawrence P. Manlapit, Jr and his wife Cristy of California. Lawrence attended James J. Curiale grammar school in Bridgeport from kindergarten until the eighth grade and then graduated from Grover Cleveland High School, California in 2009.
He also attended the University of Bridgeport for a short time before joining the U.S. Air Force, where he has spent the last four years as an Avionics Technician Specialist. He had a keen interest in science, math and especially things related to the sky. He loved soccer, bowling, volleyball, hiking, exploring and most recently cooking.
He prided himself on always keeping busy and was a consummate thrill seeker. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Leilani Hensley of Bridgeport, his paternal grandmother, Muliwai Manlapit of Oahu, HI, his step grandparents, John and Teri Norko of Bridgeport, his three sisters, Shayla Delgado and her husband Antonio of Ansonia, Davian L. Manlapit of Mebane, NC and Kaiya I. Manlapit-Norko of Bridgeport, his aunts, Tammy I. Gallagher and her husband Roy of Edmond, OK, Kiera R. Hensley of Milford, Krista M. Hensley of Maywood, CA, Kamaili Manlapit of Reseda, CA, Michelle and Joshua Jimenez of Easton, his uncles, Edgar R. Hensley, III and his wife Tania Lopez of Milford, Kimo A. Hensley and his fiancée Maritza of Bridgeport and Joseph K. Hensley and his wife Jennifer Saraceno of Milford, Shy Tong and his wife Sheri of Oahu, HI, Lopaka Kaleikini and wife Jinelle of Oahu, HI, John and Heather Norko of Newtown, and his nephews, Zayden and O’rion Delgado, as well as numerous cousins and great cousins, He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Edgar R. Hensley, Jr. and his paternal grandfather, Lawrence P. Manlapit, Sr. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Ave.
, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd.
, Trumbull. Those that wish are asked to dress in patriotic colors of red, white or blue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral director for a scholarship fund that will assist students with their future academic aspirations.
