Obituary for Stephen Blake Swafford Stephen Blake Swafford, age 48, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018. Steve was born October 13, 1970, in Camp Zama, Japan to Thomas Lee Swafford and Cheri L. Swafford. Steve graduated from Chantilly High School in Chantilly, Virginia with the class of 1989.

He then earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology & Anthropology with a major in Crime & Justice from University of West Virginia in 1994 and was a member of Psi Kappa Psi fraternity. After graduating college, Steve joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country with the 3rd Infantry Division as an intelligence specialist. He continued his career in public service with the Dallas Police Department where he dedicated 18 years until his retirement in 2017.

Steve was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Steve loved traveling, riding motorcycles, family gatherings, and trips down the river on the pontoon boat. He embraced all genres of music, and loved karaoke; specifically Sweet Caroline.

He was preceded in death by his step mother, Lavenda Swafford; his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandparents. Mr. Swafford is survived by his best friend in life and partner, Joe Rogers of Rockwall; his father, Thomas Lee Swafford of Canton; his mother, Cheri L. Swafford of Rockledge, Florida; brother, Jeff Swafford; nephew, Jake Swafford; niece Bryce Swafford of Ottawa Hills, Ohio; cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends also survive Steve. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 2500 State Highway 66 East in Rockwall, TX, with Pastor Geoffrey C. Moore officiating.

Graveside service will follow at Rosedale Cemetery located at the intersection of US Hwy 80 & Loop 485 in Gladewater, TX at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Rest Haven funeral home in Rockwall. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Assist the Officer Foundation, www. atodallas.org, in honor of Stephen Swafford, Retired Dallas PD.
