Steven D. Brown, 66, of Bloomington, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018, at his residence. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Bonnie Shepherd will officiate.

Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Born October 19, 1951, in Seymour, Steven was the son of Curtis D. and Evelyn Cooper Brown.

He was a 1970 graduate of Jennings County High School. He had worked at the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. Steven was a member of the Ellettsville Christian Church.

He enjoyed sports, gardening, cooking and oil painting. He had umpired and kept stats for men’s softball games at the North Vernon City Park. Steven is survived by a son, Justin (Leslie) Brown of North Vernon; a daughter, Carie (Britt) Burgmeier of Vernon; two brothers, Larry (Connie) Brown of Kokomo and Danny (Teresa) Brown of Columbus; a sister, Bonnie (Buster) Shepherd of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren, Ethan and Lucy Brown, Brooke and Colton Pearson, Kamryn Marcum and Logan Burgmeier; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Evelyn Brown. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Vincent De Paul or donor’s choice of charities.
