Benny D. Barton, 82, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Bro.

Ron Haislup will officiate. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be conducted from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Born October 13, 1935, in Waynesburg, IN, Benny was the son of the late Elbert and Dorothy Muir Barton. He married Della Wade on March 16, 1956. She survives.

He retired from Cummins, Inc. Benny was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He loved camping, Florida beaches, racing and being with family. Benny is survived by his wife, Della; sons, Daniel and David Barton both of North Vernon; daughter, Karla Franks of North Vernon; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dallas and William Barton. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer’s Association.
