Laura Jane Bate, 71, of Sebring, FL, passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at her son’s home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev.

Don Morris will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22nd at the funeral home. Burial will be in Otter Creek Cemetery.

Born December 4, 1946, in North Vernon, Laura was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Irene Olmstead. She was a 1964 graduate of North Vernon High School. She retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center and had worked as a security guard for Cintas.

She loved reading, motorcycle riding and enjoyed shooting. Laura is survived by her son, Terry Bate of Elizabethtown; granddaughter, Terah Landress and great-grandson, Stephan Landress. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charlie and James Olmstead; sisters, Georgia, Lucille and Charlote Olmstead; and granddaughter, Sarah Bate.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Heart Association.
