Obituary for Susan Lynne Hirshey (Brown) Susan Lynne Hirshey, age 66, of Joplin, passed away on January 21, 2019, at her home, following an illness. Susan was born on November 16, 1952 in Webb City, Mo. , the daughter of the late Ralph and Rhoda Lee (Edge) Brown.
She has been a lifetime area resident. She received an associate degree in accounting from Joplin Junior College. She worked for Fleming Foods and ran the copy center for Joplin Schools.
She retired in 2005. She was a member of Christ’s Community United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Friendly Neighbor’s Club.
She loved jewelry and her dogs. Susan married Keith Hirshey on March 5, 1971in Diamond, Mo. , and he survives.
Additional survivors include; one son, Nick Hirshey and wife Alicia, Diamond, Mo. ; and two grandchildren, Dawson and Delaney Hirshey. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Christ’s Community United Methodist Church.
Reverend Chris Sloan will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Faithful Friends Animal Advocates or the Carthage Humane Society in care of the mortuary.
