Obituary of M. Suzanne “Suzie” Clark M. Suzanne Clark (Suzie), 81, of Lakewood, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 23, 2019. Suzanne was born on June 23, 1937 to Gerald C. and Kathleen Rodgers Parker of Greenhurst. A Lakewood resident for over 50 years, she never forgot her Greenhurst roots.

She often wished that the ball fields along route 438 had been there when she was a child, instead of Zeestratens flower fields. She loved playing ball and living near the lake. She was a lifeguard at the beach in Bemus Point for several summers.

This love of sports is what made her attend SUNY Brockport to become a physical education teacher. The former Miss Parker taught physical education first in the Panama Central School District. She then taught in the Southwestern Central School District where she was introduced to her future husband by helpful students.

Suzanne then became a stay-at-home mom where she devoted her life to raising her children. After sending all of her children to school, she became a nursery school assistant in Busti for several years and then a teacher’s aide in a Special Education setting at Southwestern Middle School until her sixth child (her grandson Rob) came to live with her. Suzanne is survived by her husband, Bruce H. Clark, whom she married on June 30, 1962.

Together they raised 6 children who are all living in this area: Jill (Dave) Smith, John Clark, Molly Martin, Patti (Jim) Holsinger, Barb Clark, and grandson Rob (Kali) Clark. Nine additional grandchildren: Megan (Jerrod) Peterson of Mooresville, NC, Matthew Coe and Jenna, Jessica (Mark) Soderberg, Katie and Jordan Clark, Nick and Joshua Holsinger, Jacob and Emma Martin. Two step-grandchildren: Greg (Olivia) Smith and Kaitlyn Smith.

She is also survived by her beloved dog, Jojo. Her first great-grandchild is due to be born on April 6. Suzanne is also survived by her many cousins, friends, and neighbors whom she loved chatting with and sending cards to through the years.

She will be remembered for her love of her children, grandchildren, and animals. All who knew her loved her warm smile, easy laughter and sarcastic wit. She was predeceased by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Piotr Zaczynski, pastor, will be celebrant and Deacon Daniel J. Tyler assisting.

Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd, Jamestown, NY 14701,Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave, Lakewood, NY 14750, or Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 380 E. Fairmount Ave, Lakewood, NY 14750.
