On Sunday night, September 2, 2018, Terry ended his long journey to battle back from a fall he suffered on May 2nd. His wife and three children together, and they held him to the very end. Ultimately, though he fought so hard, his body just couldn’t withstand all of the complications, and the struggle became too much.

Terry truly believed that there is honor in the fight. He stood beside many people, supporting and advocating for them, even knowing the outcome might be bleak. The past four months, his family strived to live this value.

Though losing the battle was not at all what they hoped for or expected, they are proud of Terry. He gave it his all. He loved all his friends and family, and he felt every bit of the love they gave him throughout the many days he spend in the hospitals.

It buoyed him and his family on the very difficult days. His wife, children and their extended families want to thank the community for standing with them and walking this path beside them. They appreciate the outpouring of love they felt each of the 124 days since his fall.

Please remember to hold those you love tightly. Life changes in an instant. Memorial services will be at the First Presbyterian Church (220 W. 22nd Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001) beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 8th.

A celebration will follow at the Cheyenne Country Club (800 Stinner Road, Cheyenne, WY 82001). For those interested in making contributions in Terry’s honor, the Mackeys suggest contributing to the Terry W. Mackey Scholarship Fund at the UW College of Law. Those contributions should be sent to The University of Wyoming Foundation.

Please designate Terry W. Mackey Scholarship in honor of Mr. Terry W. Mackey. The address is University of Wyoming Foundation, 222 South 22nd Street, Laramie, WY 82070. Of course, Terry would be also be honored by any contribution made to a charity of your choice.
