Thelma Wilson, 87, of the White Oak Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Yancey House, surrounded by her family. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Dave and Minnie McMahan Blevins, and the wife of James Herman Wilson who went home in 2004.

She was also preceded in death by siblings: Rev. Edward Blevins, Melvin Blevins, Lewis Blevins, Cary Blevins, Lois McClellan, Charles Blevins, Pearl Buchanan and Claude Blevins. She was a charter member of White Oak Creek Independent Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sons: Mike Wilson and wife, Mary Lou, and Jerry Wilson and wife, Beverly, all of Burnsville, and Dean Wilson and wife, Donna, of Marion; granddaughters: Crystal Marsh and husband, Joel, and Emily Patton and husband, Brian, all of Burnsville, and Denay Wilson of Marion; and, great grandchildren: Samuel Marsh and Mary Hannah Marsh. Funeral services will be held at 8PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev.

Trent Honeycutt will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Wednesday in the Herman Wilson Family Cemetery on Upper White Oak Creek Road. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times will be at the home of Mike Wilson on Banjo Branch Road.

The family wishes to extend a special “thank you” to the Memory Care staff at Yancey House and Hospice of Yancey County. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Yancey County, 856 Georges Fork Road, Burnsville, NC.
