HOLYOKE: Theresa J. “Terry” (Angers) Betournay, 84, died at Mercy Medical Center on May 17, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born in Holyoke on April 26, 1934, to the late Aime Angers and Jeannette (Lavoie) Angers, she moved to Chicopee in 2006 and was most recently a resident of the Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke. She retired from the Holyoke School Cafeteria system as a Baker in 1999.

She was a communicant of Precious Blood Church in Holyoke for many years, and of St. Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was an enthusiastic member of “The Mermaids” at the Maguire Center at the Elms College. She was predeceased by her husband Lucien “Curley” Betournay in 2009 and her son in law Bill O’Rourke in 2016.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Karen Betournay of Holyoke, Donald and his wife Jackie of Chicopee, Joanne O’Rourke of West Springfield, Norman and his wife Sheri of Southwick, and Alan and his wife Gina of Feeding Hills. She was beloved by her grand children and great grandchildren, Christine Donahue Ferguson, her husband, Derek and their children, Mallory and Theodore, Samantha Betournay Jannene, her husband James and their son, Logan, Caity Donahue Rodgers and her husband Mark, Kimberlee Betournay Dettman, her husband Brian and their son, Zachary, Tyler Betournay, Aidan Betournay, her grand-dog, Chewy, and step grandchildren Nathan, Shawn, Shannon, Brendan O’Rourke, Erin Santa and Michael Watson. She is also survived by her brothers Norman Angers and his wife Joyce of Belchertown and Roger Angers of Westfield, the Betournay family, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Northampton Street in Holyoke, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21st. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 20th from 3:00 to 5:00 at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home on Northampton Street in Holyoke. Burial will be at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Mt. St. Vincent Care Center for the care and comfort they provided for the past year, and most recently to the staffs of the Emergency Department and the 5th floor of Mercy Medical Center, for their kindness and compassion to the family. The family requests that you please omit flowers and instead make donations to Resident Council, Mt.

St. Vincent 35 Holy Family Road Holyoke, MA 01040 in Theresa’s name.
