Thomas Warren July 07, 1927 – January 18, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Mr. Thomas Warren, 91, of Maurice, Louisiana, passed away on January 18, 2019, surrounded by his family members. The funeral service is being handled by and will be held at Southern Funeral Home on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at 202 E. Lafayette St., Winnfield, Louisiana. Byron White, grandson-in-law of Thomas, of Angleton, Texas, will be officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service, at Southern Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral at Garden of Memories cemetery in Winnfield. Thomas was born in West Monroe, Louisiana on July 7, 1927.

Thomas married Ella Mae Warren on October 11, 1944 and they were married 71 years. Thomas worked at the International Paper Company in Spring Hill, Louisiana, prior to entering the United States Marine Corps in September, 1945. Thomas served these United States honorably during World War II, assigned to the Pacific area, participating in the Occupation of China.

Upon discharge from the U.S.M.C. in October 1946, Thomas returned to International Paper Company and worked until he moved to Angleton, Texas, in 1951 to work for Dow Chemical Company and raise his family. Thomas worked for Dow until 1973.

He enjoyed all of the activities with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends and was a founding and active member of Second Baptist Church of Angleton. Thomas and Ella Mae moved to Winnfield, Louisiana in 1973 while Thomas was semi-retired. He enjoyed hunting and fishing on their property near Saline Lake and he practiced his carpentry skills working for various individuals and companies in the Winnfield area until he and Ella Mae returned to Angleton, Texas in 1999 to be near family.

Thomas and Ella Mae moved in February, 2008 to be with their daughter, Mary and her husband, Bob, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Thomas is survived by his brother, Joseph Hogg and his wife, Claudia, his brother-in-law, Earl Everett Massey; his daughters, Judy Jurek and husband, Geheard, Mary Hendershot and husband, Bob, Patricia Tumlinson and husband, Cecil. Grandchildren include Donald Jurek, Richard Jurek, Sherri Warren Steinbecker, Shelly Smith White, Jessica Smith Franks, Laura Smith , Ethan Thomas Warren, Christopher Thomas Jurek, Anthony Jesus Jurek.

There are also 16 great grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Massey Warren, his parents, William Seaborn and Bertha Almeda Lowery Warren, his son, Thomas Michael Warren, his great-grandson Brandon Lynn Jurek, brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Second Baptist Church, 1817 Shanks Rd, Angleton, TX 77515.

The family of Thomas wishes to thank his nurses at Pelican Pointe, Suzy, Nicole, Kathleen, Andrea and all the loving nursing assistants and staff at the nursing home who were so giving and kind to Thomas during the six years of his stay at the facility. The family also thanks the nurses of Lamm Family Care Hospice, Malorie, Heather and Candace, as well as Mr. Mark, the chaplain.
