Tomasa “Carmen” Aponte-Rivera , 79 of Long Branch passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family on Friday, June 1. Born in Comerio, PR she moved to Long Branch in 1958. She was a communicant of Our Lady Star of The Sea R.C. Church, Long Branch where she married her husband.

She lived for taking care of her family. She was a strong, independent, hard working and loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her presence will surely be missed by many.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Raul L. Aponte and a son, Orlando Aponte. Surviving are her children, Raul Aponte and his partner Jay Eisenman, Long Branch, Sonia Aponte, Hawaii, Lee Aponte and his wife Julie, Hawaii and Diana Aponte, Maryland. Grandchildren, Giovanni, Gianna, Joshua, Shelby, Sean, Elijah and Jacob.

Siblings, Ana Julia Rivera, PR, Justiliano Rivera and Anibal Rivera both of Long Branch and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the Hoffman Funeral Home, 415 Broadway, Long Branch on Monday June 4, 2018 from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Our Lady Star Of The Sea R. C. Church, Long Branch.

Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. Condolences may be left at www. Hoffmanfuneral.com.
