Obituary for Trude G. Schmelzle Schmelzle, Trude G. Saginaw, Michigan Beloved mother, grandmother “Omie”, and aunt went home to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Edgewood Assisted Living. She was 89 years old. Trude Gisela Hueul was born on July 30, 1929 in Cologne, Germany to the late Norbert and Emily (Irmler) Heuel.

She came to the United States on November 29, 1954 and became an American citizen in 1964. Trude was a faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for many years. She served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Trude lived most of her life in Saginaw, and worked for Sullivan’s North and the Schuch Hotel. Trude is survived by her son, Michael Thompson of Saginaw; grandchildren: Steffie (Larry) Parsons, Kevin (Alli) Thompson and Scott (Samantha) Thompson; step-granddaughter, Shane Riska; brother, Hermut Heuel and his family in Germany. Trude was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Schmelzle; brother, Norbert; and a step-daughter, Gail Riska.

FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy for Trude will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw. Rev. Fr.

Richard Bokinskie will officiate with burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
