Obituary for Gary Lee Judson Gary Lee Judson, age 75, of Alger, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 16, 2018, after a 35 year battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma disease. Gary was born in Pontiac, MI on February 6, 1943 to Wendell and Elma Judson. He graduated from Pellston High School and then from Northern Michigan University with a degree in business and accounting.

In 1968 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Germany for three years before being honorably discharged. Gary had an adventurous spirit and a great love for travel that he shared with his family and friends. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed nature, hiking, camping, exploring national parks and outsmarting chipmunks.

He loved aviation, reading, and while the History Channel was on no one could get the remote out of Gary’s hands. He was a devoted husband, father and friend as well as a spiritual man involved in many church activities. He excelled at being a master electrician and craftsman and was known to take on challenging projects.

Gary was also very giving in his community, serving on the board for the Montessori School of St. Clair and the Forest Lake Board of Directors. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Diane “Di” Judson; daughters, Kelly (Brian) True and Kimberly (Robert) Thikoll; grandchildren, Jordan Barrick, Jacob Barrick, Lexi True, Brandon Thikoll, Tyler Thikoll, and Rachel Thikoll; sisters, Linda Searles and Wendy Wares; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Donald Judson and Judy Zarfel.

He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 7842 Newberry Road, Alger, MI 48610. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Gary may be made to Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, care of the church, or to the American Cancer Society, Post Office Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
