True (Thurston) Gauvin Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt True (Thurston) Gauvin, 82, of Pelham, died Thursday, June 14th at Elliot Hospital in Manchester following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the beloved wife of 34 years to the late Paul H. Gauvin who died August 8, 2007. Born in Mexico, Maine, June 19, 1935, a daughter of the late Donald P. and the late Harriette L. (Grant) Thurston, she attended Portland schools and was a graduate of Derring High School in Portland.

Before retiring, True was employed as a Sales Associate with Sears in Lowell and then at the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua for many years. Among her many interests, she enjoyed housework, cooking, baking, gardening and traveling. Her true passion however, was being a mother and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially during the Christmas holidays.

She was also a very devoted wife who cared for her husband while battling Lou Gehrig’s disease for several years before his passing. True is survived by five daughters Eva Deyoreo and her husband Steven of Groton, MA, Linda Hanna and her husband David of Orlando FL, Linda Dillon of Lowell, MA, Karen Thoman and her husband Paul of Nashua, NH and Nancy Branco and her husband Joseph of Tyngsboro, MA; three sons Martin Gauvin and his wife Rachel of Tyngsboro, MA, Dana Mercer of Lowell, MA and Brian Mercer of Pelham with whom she resided and was her caregiver for many years; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister Donna Thurston of Maine; a brother Ronald Thurston of Maine; and several nieces and nephews. She was also grandmother of the late Keith Gauvin.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass to be held on Saturday morning, July 14th at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in Pelham at 10 o’clock.
