VaNeita Wilson Wood, 91, passed away at home on Tuesday, Nov 20, 2018. She was born Dec 6, 1926 in Gunnison, Utah to Evan Watkin Wilson and Ellen Juliann Anderson and was the 7th of 8 children. She was raised in Gunnison and attended local schools there.

She enjoyed school and remained friends with some of her schoolmates her entire life. VaNeita married Lloyd E Jorgensen in 1943 and lived in various areas while he served in the Army Air Corp. They lived in Nephi and Layton, before finally settling in Sunset, Utah.

Lloyd died in 1960. VaNeita married Willis E Wood in 1968 and they made their home in Roy. They enjoyed bowling and playing golf.

They were “Snowbirds” and had a winter home in St George for many years. Willis died in 1994 and VaNeita continued to spend her winters in St. George until 2016. She was lovingly called “Granny” by her grandchildren and many of her friends.

She traveled with her daughter to attend concerts by her favorite singers and bands and became friends with the members of the bands, who all knew her as “Granny”. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. VaNeita was survived by her children: Larry Jorgensen and Linda Sutherland; step-children: Robert Wood, Jeanne (James) Combe, Anne Nelson, Nancy Beard, and John (Debbie) Wood; 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Lloyd and Willis, her parents and 7 siblings. She was the last of her siblings and is enjoying a glorious reunion now. Special thanks to the Hearts for Hospice nurses who assisted with mom’s care the last few days of her life.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Nov 28, 2018 from 6-8 pm at the mortuary and Thursday from 11:30-12:30 am prior to services. Send condolences to the family www.
