Velma Katherine (DeWeese) Young, 94, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 surrounded by her children. Velma was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 16, 1924 to the late Emil and Beatrice (Ewin) DeWeese. She was a member of Blue Grass United Methodist Church and the of Daughters of the Nile.

Velma is survived by her daughters, Beverly Besing and Jennifer Williams (Michael Ringeman) both of Evansville, IN; sons, Tom Young (Sonja) and Dan Young (Pam) both… Read More » of Evansville, IN; sisters, Evelyn Huebner and Gayle Cobb (Mike) both of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Dr. Amy Paik, Alan B. Besing, Ryan and Brad Young, Kristin Abbruzzi, Nicole Blythe, and Adam and Andrea Williams; and great-grandchildren, Meredith and Elliot Paik, Allie Besing, Corey Martin, Rynn and Gunner Young, Cooper, Chase, and Libby Blythe, Emory and Paisleigh Williams, Brigham Bennett, and Gabi Abbruzzi. Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Brigham Young; her parents; sister, Emily DeWeese; brothers, Harold, Jerold, Robert, Delbert, and Donald DeWeese; and sons-in-law, Alan F. Besing and Sgt. Richard Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Blue Grass United Methodist Church Chapel, 14240 Petersburg Rd. , Evansville, IN 47725. Burial will follow at Blue Grass Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave. , Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 10:00 AM until service time at the church on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Grass Cemetery Fund, 17640 Volkman Rd.
