Vera Caroline Kunst April 22, 1931 – January 10, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Vera Caroline Kunst went to be with her Savior on Jan. 10, 2019. Vera was born to Harry and Frances (Kasischke) Bultema on April 22, 1931, in the same house in which she was living at the time of her death.

Vera has been a “sand rabbit” all of her life, living one block from Lake Michigan. She was a member of the Forty-Niners class of St. Joseph High School. She married W. William Kunst on August 19, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, where she was a lifelong member.

Vera was an active member of all local senior centers and was employed for over 30 years in downtown St. Joseph, with 20 years as manager of MacKenzie’s Bakery in Courthouse Square. She loved people, her flower gardens, vacations, crafts and bingo. She loved to laugh and truly enjoyed life.

Vera is survived by her son, Kevin Kunst and wife Ginger of St. Joseph; daughter, Kim (Kunst) Murdough and husband Frank of Flint, Mich. ; three grandsons: Kevin Ellinghausen and Amber Rancour of Swartz Creek, Mich. , Doug Ellinghausen of Westland, Mich.

, and Mike Ellinghausen of Flint; five great-grandchildren: Kayden, Hailey, Chase and Alina Ellinghausen and Emily Rancour. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband on May 29, 2005; her parents; and three brothers: Harry Bultema Jr.; Marvin Bultema and William Bultema. A Celebration of Life Service held by the family will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb.

9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Main Street in St. Joseph, with the Rev. Michael Roth officiating. A time of visitation with the family will take place at 10 a.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
