Obituary for Vergie Mae Kies Vergie Mae Kies, 92, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Monday, June 4, 2018 at Monticello House in Jackson, Missouri. She was born October 16, 1925 in Holcomb, Missouri to Edward and Selma Summers Eakins. She and David Kies Sr. were married December 7, 1943 at Benton, Missouri.

She was a lifelong member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau. Vergie was first employed by Himmelberger/Harrison Lumber company in Cape as a secretary. Later she was employed by MFA in Jackson, Missouri as the bookkeeper, from there she went to Regis Inventory team until her retirement.

Survivors include one son, David (Diane) Kies Jr.; two brothers, Claude Eakins and Scott Eakins; three sisters, Rosemary Dryer, Louella Fiegel and Omadell Clark; three grandchildren, Tiffney Kies Smith, Todd Kies and Liana Kies; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Michael Kies. Visitation will be 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Ford & Sons Mt.

Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Rev. David Schaffner officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau. Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.
