Obituary for Victoria Rodriguez Victoria Sanchez Rodriguez, age 87, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. Kansas. She was born June 15, 1931, in Sinton, Texas, the daughter of Apolonio and Antonia (Sanchez) Rodriguez.

Victoria, a housewife, grew up in San Antonio and Brownsville, Texas; living most of her adult life in Ulysses, Kansas. She married Jesus Alonzo on April 5, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas. Victoria previously worked as a migrant worker following the crops, at the hospital as a housekeeper, and the American Legion as a cook.

In the early morning hours, she would listen to music while she cooked. She also enjoyed singing, dancing, working in the garden, playing cards, sewing, and spending time with her family. Victoria was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church since June 20, 1966.

She also volunteered at the church as a server and helped with the cooking. She is survived by her children, Emilio Alonzo of Washington, Jesse Alonzo, Jr. of Ulysses, Kansas, Gloria Alonzo Reyes and Maria Alonzo both of Washington, Pete Alonzo of Oklahoma, Robert Alonzo of Garden City, Kansas, Adam Alonzo of Kansas, LuJuana Alonzo of Texas, Ralph Alonzo of Oklahoma, Richard Alonzo of Austin, Texas, and Jessica Alonzo Ornelas of Garden City, Kansas; siblings, Elisandro Urrea, Apolonio Rodriguez, Jr., Celia Rodriguez, Virginia Cavasos, and Lupe Hernandez; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Victoria is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesus; daughter, Antonia Alonzo Hatton; sibilings, Vicente Rodriguez, Ignacio (Nacho) Rodriguez, Roman Rodriguez, and Herminia Garcia.

Vigil and rosary service will be Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 7:00 PM and funeral mass will be Friday, October 12, 2018, at 2:00 PM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Peter Fernandez officiating. Friends may call Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to Victoria Rodriguez Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
