Obituary for Virginia Coomer (Williams) Virginia A. Coomer 1921-2018 Virginia Coomer, 96, of Oldtown, passed away, Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at her residence. She was born November 3, 1921 on Lost Creek in Greenup County; a daughter of the late Edward and Lacy Ash Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Coomer; two brothers, Joe Williams and Alton Ash; a daughter, Carolyn Sue Columbus, and a great-grandson.
Virginia was of the Baptist faith. She was a cook with the Greenup County Schools, and later at Greenbo Lake State Park at the Lodge. She had been active with the Greenup County Democratic Women’s Club, and stayed involved in Oldtown Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, Eddie (Michelle) Coomer of Oldtown, KY; a brother, Clyde Williams of Oldtown, KY; nine grandchildren, Tonya Coomer of Huntington, WV, Bethanie (Chris) Thompson of Ashland, KY, Lacy (Kyle) Branham of Flatwoods, KY, Nicole (Kyle) Cordle of Hitchins, KY, Heidi (Ben) Green of Lexington, KY, Michael Elkins of Richmond, VA, Sheryl Dianna Shenett of Olive Hill, KY, Melinda Elkins and Sabrina (Dwayne) Rogers both of Las Vegas, NV; 25 great- grandchildren, 28 great- great- grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, July 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, John Lybrook, minister. Burial will follow at the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Spence, Bob Montgomery, Pete Kee, Larry Scott, Gerald Claxon, and Philip Claxon. Visitation will be Friday, July 27, 2018 from 11:00 a. m.to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
