Funeral Services for Wayne Fremont Huggins will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Lexington on Barr Road with burial to follow in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Fremont died peacefully on June 23 at home surrounded by family at the age of 82.

The son of the late John Paul Huggins and Anne Huggins Smith, he was born March 21, 1936 in Hemingway, South Carolina. He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters. Fremont is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda Clough Huggins and sons Wayne Huggins and Joel (Kim) Huggins.

His grandchildren are Nikki (David) Huggins, Brittany (Kyle) Huggins, Codee (Michael) Worthy, Chandler Huggins, Taylor (Troy) Huggins and Cassidy Huggins. His great-grandchildren are Braydon Cooper, Ferryn Arcand and Caden Worthy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Fremont graduated from University High School in 1952. He married Wanda in 1956. He retired from Delta Airlines after 33 years of service.

He also retired from the Lexington County Treasurer’s office when his health started to decline. Fremont was actively involved in his community in various ways. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball, Lexington Softball, was a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America, and was Chairman of the Board for the Lexington County Library Association.

Fremont lived his life for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was also the consummate family man. Every decision he ever made was in the best interest of his family.

He provided his sons with the example of how to be a father. His greatest joy came when he retired so he had more time to spend with his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Lexington – Missions at 415 Barr Rd.
