Walter I. Yarger, 86, of Lock Haven, died Monday, April 23, 2018 at his home. Born July 12, 1931 in Sanborn, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence Yarger and the former Laura Lowe. Walter honorably served his country in the United States Army.

For 29 years he was employed by Piper Aircraft and later employed by Lockeed Martin for 14 years. He was a member of the Avis United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting and gardening. He is survived by his wife the former Marlene M. Atkins, they were united in marriage June 15, 1957.

Also surviving is a son Allen J. (Jean) Yarger of Avis; a daughter Cheryl R. Yarger of Lock Haven; 2 grandsons; 2 brothers Clark Yarger of Sanborn PA and James (Diane) Yarger of Sinking Springs, PA; and 4 sisters Donna (Clair) Bush of Houtzdale, Connie (Bob) Regal of Pleasant Gap, Elsie (Luke) Stiner of Alaska and Velma (George) Pedmo of Houtzdale, PA. Funeral services will be Tuesday May 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Avis United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service at the church.

Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Rev. Joe Hopkins his pastor will officiate.

In lieu of flowers family suggests memorial contributions be made in his name to the Avis United Methodist Church 215 Prospect Ave. Avis Penna.
