Wanda S Hanselman, February 10, 1929 — October 26, 2018

Obituary for Wanda S. Hanselman Wanda Sue Hanselman, 89, of Edwardsville passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 8:58 p.m. at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon. Wanda was born February 10, 1929 in Cadwell, Ill. , the daughter of the late Otis and Sarah Wardlow.

She married William Hanselman on August 4, 1951 in Wood River. He survives. Also surviving is a son, Jeffery (Linda) Hanselman, and a daughter, Tara Hanselman, both of Edwardsville.

She is also survived by her grandsons Andrew (Kelly) Hanselman of Glen Carbon and Eric (Denise) Hanselman of Edwardsville. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Liam Hanselman, Elani Hanselman, and Isaac Hanselman all of Edwardsville, and a step-great-granddaughter Claire Corpus of Collinsville. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Lorna Priestley of Boston as well as many nieces and nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by her sisters Marjorie McGhee and Virginia Meyers and a sister-in-law Marian Mahoney. Wanda was a 1948 graduate of East Alton/Wood River Community High School. Wanda was a homemaker and relished her role as a Welcome Wagon hostess by greeting new families to her neighborhood.

In her later years, she would spend winters in Naples, Florida. Wanda had a penchant for fashion, a good meal, and traveling the world. A master level bridge player, Wanda could often be found in the grill at Sunset Hills Country Club with her beloved friends.

She also had a fantastic memory and could easily recall dates and events which made her an incredible storyteller. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lutheran Senior Services in her name. Per Wanda’s wishes, her remains will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018, followed by celebration of life until 6 p.m. at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Wanda S.
