King, age 84, of Marshall, MO, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019, at the Golden Oaks Living Center in Marshall. She was born on December 16, 1934, in Hastain, MO, the daughter of Sherman and Jewell Fyrn (Short) Place. She grew up in Warsaw and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1952.

Wanda was united in marriage to William “Bill” King on August 4, 1951 at the Methodist Parsonage by Rev. Wesley Hampton. They made their home in Warsaw where unto this union, two sons and one daughter; Wayne, John and Patty, were born.

In 1975, they moved to Marshall where they made their home. She was a homemaker most of her life, caring for her family and household. For a short time she was employed by Paul Shinn Oil Company in Warsaw as a bookkeeper.

Wanda enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved flowers and working in her yard. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Randall Place and Denzel Place and one sister, RaeDean Schroder. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill, of Marshall, two sons, Wayne (Kathy) King of Grain Valley, MO and John (Kristi) King of Marshall, MO, a daughter, Patty King also of Marshall, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Wanda King will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church of Marshall, MO, with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., Thursday at the church.

Graveside Services and Interment will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday at the Riverside Cemetery, Warsaw, MO. Memorials contributions may be made to the Marshall First United Methodist Church Music Ministry. Arrangement entrusted to the care of Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO.
