Wayne B. Dray, 92, passed away Monday at Worthington Christian Village with his family by his side. He was born January 3, 1926, in Delphos, to Ruth Irene Fryer and Samuel B. Dray, who preceded him in death. His stepmother, Doris Irene Graham Dray, also preceded him in death.

On June 10, 1950, he married Luella Mae Watkins, who survives. He was also preceded in death by two sisters; Carol June Feathers and Gloria Ruth Watkins. He is survived by a half-sister, Ardith (Joe Compton) DeWitt; a half-brother, Mike B. Dray; daughters, Karen (Paul) Grant of Westerville, Barbara (Ron) Wegesin of Dublin, and Susan (Mark) Lickert of Strongsville; grandsons, Brett (Kacey) Powell of Reynoldsburg, Andy (Lindsay) Wegesin of Dublin, and Matt (Amber) Lickert of Omaha, Nebraska; granddaughters, Lindsay (Eric) Schmidt of Gahanna, Leah (Jason) Powell of Dublin, and Katie Lickert of Strongsville; and eight great-grandchildren, Alyse and Jackson, Avery and Ellis, Landon, Elle and Penelope, and Elizabeth, and one on the way.

Wayne graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School. He then immediately joined the Navy and was stationed in the Philippines during World War II. He was discharged as a 3rd class Electricians Mate.

He was an engineer for the Norfolk & Western Railroad, retiring after 40 years of faithful service. Wayne enjoyed his private pilot’s license and owning his own small airplane with Mae as his co-pilot. Wayne enjoyed traveling with Mae in their Airstream trailer and joining the caravans throughout the U.S., eastern Canada, western Canada, Mexico & Alaska.

Wayne was a 70-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Hope Lodge 214, Delphos Council 72 and Spencerville Chapter 164. He was a 50-year member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Delphos. He was currently a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Westerville.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, 100 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. A luncheon will follow at 1 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 1-3 p.m. Friday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, followed immediately by a graveside service at Walnut Grove Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
