Wilda Varner Bryson, 93, of 181 Belleview Road died Saturday, June 16, 2018 after a period of declining health. A native of Swain County, Mrs. Bryson had resided in Macon County for more than fifty years. She was the daughter of the late Thad T. and Gradie Barrett Varner.

Her husband David H. Bryson, Jr. died in 1999. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James G. Varner. Mrs. Bryson was a graduate of Mars Hill College and an honor graduate of Western Carolina Teachers College.

She had taught school in Swain and Macon counties for a number of years. Mrs. Bryson was member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, James David and wife, Reba C. Bryson of Franklin; a granddaughter, Chi L. Bryson of Caddo, Texas; a step‑grandson, Michael Cooper and step‑great‑granddaughter, Michaela also of Franklin.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences are available at bryantgrantfuneralhome.com. Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Bryson family.
