William “Bill” G. Gess, Jr., age 90, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Woodmont Health Campus in Boonville. Bill was born October 24, 1928, in Lexington, KY, to William G. Gess, Sr. and Viola (Ginter) Gess. He graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1946 and attended the University of Kentucky.

Bill was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for over 20 years and was a former member of Newburgh Presbyterian Church. He was a Land Man who secured land leases for the oil, gas, and coal industries. Bill loved his family and boating at Lake Barkley.

He was known for his sense of humor, his generosity, and his caring spirit. Bill was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed gardening and restoring antiques. He was a classic example of a Kentucky Wildcat and loved his bourbon.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary “Jo” Joyce Gess; daughter, Susan Sublett; grandchildren, J.B. Perry (Rachel), Weston Sublett (Cara), Anne Couts (Adam), and Lindsey Basler (Ryan); and great grandchildren, Olivia Sublett, William Sublett, Will Perry, Molly Perry, Kylie Perry, Lilyana Couts, Ashton Couts, and Camellia Couts. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Vicki Gess. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville.

Entombment will be Private. Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 23, 2018 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
