William Henry Howard January 11, 1931 – October 9, 2018 William H. “Bill” Howard, 87, went home to the Lord on October 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rio Frio, Texas. His family moved to Bisbee when he was 5 years old.

Bill was a graduate of Bisbee High School in 1950. He was a star athletic and excelled in all sports. After graduation he attended the University of Arizona then joined the United States Navy.

Bill was an accomplished cattleman, rancher and businessman. Bill retired from several occupations, but most recently from the company he founded and owned, Mule Mountain Pest Control. Bill was preceded in death by his loving parents, Sheriff Jack and Gussie Howard; sisters, Elsie Howard Johnson and Hester Howard Buchanan; granddaughter Lindsay Bernice Jewell; and great-grandson John Thomas Rompel.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Diane; daughters, Teri (Richard) Grove, of Mountain View, California, Cindy (Tary) Jewell, of Bisbee, Jackie (Dcn Tony) Underwood, of Bisbee and Laura (Ed) Kull, of Sierra Vista; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill will be remembered for his friendships, sense of humor, contagious bright smile, loving character and joyfulness of living life. Bill never met a stranger, his personality was as big as his heart.

Bill’s favorite place to be was on his front porch looking at his mountain with Diane and their beloved dogs next to them. Bill was a combination of John Wayne and MacGyver, there was nothing he could not do. He loved his family and loved life, he will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to a charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 1173 Highway 92, Bisbee, Arizona.
