Lloyd D. Ford, 98, CWO (USNR Ret. ) Lloyd Ford passed away on September 28 2018 at a local care facility. He was born August 22, 1920 in Palco, Kansas to his parents David and Ruth Ford, both deceased.

While still in High School at the age of 16 he earned his first Ham Radio License and remained a devoted Ham all his life. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 as a Radio Technician, was subsequently commissioned a Naval Reserve, Warrant Officer and served throughout WWII in both European-African and Asia-Pacific Theaters, including the Aleutian Islands. After the war he returned to Hays, Kansas where he worked with his father in the family plumbing business and as a DJ at KAYS a local radio station while pursuing his degrees.

In 1958 he completed his education, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Physics and Mathematics. He found employment with the MIT & Lincoln Lab and relocated to Truro, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. He continued working with the company through the change to MITRE Corporation and in 1963 he relocated family and began work in Bedford, Massachusetts, and was involved in a variety of defense related, cutting edge technology programs.

In 1980 he transferred to Fort Huachuca and retired from MITRE in 1984. He married Marianne (O’Shaughnessy) Ford in 1983 and together pursued his other hobbies of Geology (Gem & Mineral Club) and Duplicate Bridge. Surviving are his wife Marianne, sister Dorothy Gerharter, his children: Carrol Ford-Helms, Janice, David, Steven and Patricia Ford, stepchildren; Richard, Dale, Neal O’Shaughnessy, Judy England and Marilee Horn along with an extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A service of remembrance with military honors will be held at 10 am Friday, October 19th at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
