Obituary for William Burleigh Kaster, Sr. William Burleigh Kaster, Sr. passed away peacefully Monday morning at home surrounded by his family. Burleigh was born January 21, 1928 in Louisville, the son of Carl C. and Edith Roseborough. He served his country as an officer in the United States Army, attended the University of Kentucky, and owned and operated several businesses.

Burleigh was a loving and fun husband, father, and grandfather. Burleigh was no stranger to a good time, the life of every party. His charisma, humor, and charm contributed to his unforgettable character.

He frequently shared and lived by the saying “Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting ‘Oh my… what a ride! ’” He certainly achieved this. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mairann Shuck, parents and brother, Carl R. Burleigh is survived by his sister Joanne Kaster Overstreet; son, William Burleigh Kaster, Jr. (Shannon King, deceased), and daughters Kimberley DeMoss (Edwin F. DeMoss, Jr.) and Julie Ferrell (Douglas Anderson Ferrell).

His greatest pride and joy in life included his grandchildren, Ian (Elizabeth), Austin (Andy), Shane, Trip, Andy, and Madison, whom he cherished above all else. Known as “Pops”, “W.B.”, and Dad he was loved by many and will be missed by all. Service will be held Friday, April 20th at Sunrise Senior Living, 6700 Overlook Dr, Louisville, KY 40241 at 2:30pm.

Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements were entrusted to Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, “in St. Matthews”. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Boys & Girls Haven, 2301 Goldsmith Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40218.
