William C. Bierly, 88, of Jersey Shore, died Sunday morning, Sept. 16, 2018, in Hospice Care at the Williamsport Home. Born April 6, 1930, in Jersey Shore, he was the son of Harold Bierly Sr. and the former Barbara Johnson.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Shirley A. Updegraff, Nov. 21, 2005. They were united in marriage June 11, 1950.

Earlier in his life he was employed as a butcher for Swift Packing Co. and later worked for A&P and Robbs Store. Bill is survived by 3 sons, Stephen W. (Barbara) Bierly, of Hagerstown, Md. , Thomas M. (Raye) Bierly, of Linden, and Scott A. (Charlotte) Bierly, of Jersey Shore; grandchildren, Jennifer, Nathan, Erin, Sarah, Ethan, Chloe, Kira and Rees; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Henry and Alayna.

Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday until time of services in the funeral home.

He will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Kerry Aucker will officiate.
