William Glenn “Bill”‘s Obituary William Glenn “Bill” Boyd, Jr. 79, of Dalton passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019. He was the son of the late William Glenn Boyd, Sr. and Gertrude Warmack Boyd and was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Gertrude Lotspeich Warmack. Bill graduated from Dalton High in 1958 and was a Master Eagle Scout.

He worked at Collins & Aikman and Tandus for 42 years and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Dalton. He loved the outdoors, was an avid fisherman, a vintage car enthusiast, loved animals and never met a stranger. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Susan McBryar Boyd; mother-in-law, Christine W. McBryar; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jim and Regina McBryar Wright; nieces and nephews, Jim and Mary Kathryn Wright and Ashleigh and Jacob Cain; great nephews, Wyatt, Brooks, Hillman and Brantley; special cousins, Gertrude Burns and Jerry Ritchey; numerous cousins; constant greyhound companions, Liza Jane and Braska Burt.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. William E. Owens officiating. James Hillman Wright III, James Hillman Wright IV, Brantley Wright, Jacob Cain, Wyatt Cain, Brooks Cain, Jim Wright Jr., David Tucker, Dennis Flowers, Dennis Wilkey, George Hagin, Ronald Lowery and Jerry Ritchey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Sosebee, Jimmy Moss, Wayne McCoy, Fletcher Smith, and many cousins.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens South, Rossville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM and then again on Thursday from 10 until the service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greyhound Rescue Foundation of Tennessee, P.O. Box 32554 Knoxville, TN 37930, First Baptist Church Men’s Prayer Breakfast, P.O. Box 827 Dalton, GA 30722 or to the GraceWorks Church Building Fund in Chattanooga.
