William J Adams, 94, died on April 28, 2018. He was born January 14, 1924 in New York City. He was the only child of James and Agnes (Aabrahamson) Adams.

He was the beloved husband of Catherine Johnson Adams for 70 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by his 5 children, Dr. James (Judy), Valorie Sheehan (Jack), Constance MacKay (John), Douglas (Dianne) and Dean (Teresa). He was the adored grandfather of 8 and a great grandfather as well.

He volunteered and served during World War op as a navigator on B-17 and B-24 bombers. He was discharged with the rank of Captain in 1946. He was as proud graduate of THE Ohio State University with a degree in electrical engineering.

He remained an avid fan of all things Ohio State until the very end. Go Buckeyes! He spent his entire professional career working for the Long Island Lighting Company.

He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and was the volunteer treasurer of the Plainview Reformed Church for more than 30 years. In retirement he enjoyed family vacations, crossword puzzles, reading, spending time with friends and family and watching and attending sporting events, particularly Ohio State football or the Mets or the Jets. He will be remembered for his steadfastness, honesty, even temper and his ability to listen and make those around him feel comfortable.

He was a gentle man and a gentleman. A life well lived.
