James W. Thurley, 89, of Gettysburg, PA, entered God’s eternal care Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home. Born September 4, 1928 in Montreal, Canada, he was the son of the late Ernest A. and Lilian (Craig) Thurley. James was the loving husband of the late Janice Mae (Gardner) Thurley with whom he shared 57 years of marriage until her passing on July 18, 2012.

James retried with over 30 years of service as a machinist for Mack Trucks. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, as well as the Good Conduct Medal. James is survived by three children, Randall D. Thurley of SC, Deborah A. Springer of Fairfield, PA, and Wayne E. Thurley of Gettysburg, PA, three grandchildren, Megan Washington, Lara Thurley, and Isaiah Thurley, and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret “Peggy” Lawrence. Funeral Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 66 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg, (Bonneauville), PA.
