Richard L. Angel, 82, of Hanover, PA, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover with his family by his side. Richard was the loving husband of Mary Catherine “Kitty” (Asper) Angel with whom he would have shared sixty-four years of marriage on August 28, 2018. Born October 6, 1935 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Arnold C. and Katie M. (Loyer) Angel.
Richard retired from Hanover Wire Cloth in 1997, where he worked as an inspector for thirty-four years. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club and he worked part-time delivering flowers for Cremer Florist. Mr. Angel was a veteran, serving his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp.
during the Korean Conflict. Richard was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, York Street, Hanover, PA, serving on the Property Committee and Usher Team. Richard was an avid roller skater at Forest Park in his younger years and an avid Baltimore Orioles fan.
In addition to his loving wife Kitty, Richard is survived by six children, Richard L. Angel, Jr. and his wife Pat of Hanover, PA, Barry E. Angel and his wife Kathy of Abbottstown, PA, Wayne L. Angel of Huntington, WV, Pamela Miller and her husband Dave of Hanover, PA, Lisa Benner and her husband Ron of Hanover, PA, and Randy L. Angel and companion Lori Axe of Spring Grove, PA; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl H. Angel of Zephyrhills, FL and Arnold C. Angel, Jr. of NC; a sister, Joyce Becker of Shippensburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Megan Angel; four brothers, Charles A. Angel, Robert Angel, Raymond C. Angel, and William Angel; and three sisters, Esther Angel, Ruth Gruver and Mary Wittie. A funeral service to celebrate and remember Richard’s life will be held 11:30AM, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 127 York Street, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor the Rev.
E. Robert Burkhart officiating. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail providing full honors. Viewings will be held from 6:00-8:00PM, Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.
