William J. Meinhart, 85, of Akron, died Friday, May 25, 2018 at Altercare, in Wadsworth. He was born February 13, 1933 in Altoona, PA to William and Charlotte Meinhart. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1973, and served many tours in both Korea and Vietnam.

During his service, he earned three bronze stars. William married and shared his life with Mary B. {Holsapple} Meinhart. She passed away in May of 2009.

He worked as a roofer after his retirement from the Army. William will be deeply missed by his brother Jack (Patti) Meinhart of Michigan; sisters Betty (Joe) Thorton and Gerrilyn Grady, both of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and several brothers.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff of Liberty Residence and the hospice care at Altercare of Wadsworth. Private graveside services will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Seville. Military rites will be held.
