WILLIAM “BILL” JOSEPH GATTO, 76, of Harrisville, Pa. passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 6, 1941.

Bill proudly served his country with the United States Army in Viet Nam from 1966 until 1969 as decorated Spec 5 with Viet Nam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, National Defense Service Medal, and Viet Nam Service Medal. Bill is a member of the American Legion Post 676 of St. Petersburg, a life member of the NRA and a member of DAV. For over 27 years Bill was an over road truck driver retiring from Superior Carriers.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Knapp Gatto, whom he married on September 23, 1983. His daughter, Babette L. (Todd) Fitzgerald of Harrisville, Pa; Daughter, Jessica Andrews and son, William J. Gatto Jr., both of Sheboygan, WI. ; Son, Shawn P. (Terra) Barnacastle of Clarion, Pa.

Grandchildren; Private First Class, William Fitzgerald, Hailie, and Autumn Fitzgerald, Shawn, Lylah, and Jackson Barnacastle, Nickolas and Hannah Gatto. Five great grandchildren as well as numerous cousins and one aunt. Bill is also survived by a dear friend, Eleanor and her family from New York.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Gatto. Friends and family will be received Thursday, May 24 from 4-6 PM at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire, Pa with a veterans service at 6:00 PM followed by the funeral service. Private burial will be held at Greenlawn Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Bill’s name to VNA In-Patient Hospice for military blankets, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
