He was a son of the late Charles William Moffitt, Sr. and Hattie Louise Potter Moffitt. He was an Army Veteran, serving as Corporal and a Radio Operator from 1945 – 1947. He worked for Akers Motor Line for 27 years before being laid off in 1978.

Then, he worked for Cannon Mills until his retirement at 62. His hobbies were fishing with his family, watching old dramas and comedies, and listening to Blue Grass country music with Bill Monroe as his favorite singer. Mr. Moffit was a member of Charity Baptist Church.

He was known by many names: June, Sweet, Junior, but he was simply Pa to all his family. He was loved by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Arleen Linker Moffitt; a grandson, Kenneth Daryl B three sisters, Margaret Brotherton, Elizabeth Brown and Betty Jean Phillips; and a son-in-law, Larry Boyd.

Mr. Moffitt is survived by his daughter, Linda Boyd; three sons, Ricky Moffitt and wife Sharon, Dennis Moffitt and wife Debbie and Kevin “Pud” Moffitt and wife Robin; eight grandchildren, Anita “Cissy” Schrad and husband Devin of Mooresville, Amy Campbell and husband Chris of Concord, Angie Kepley and husband Steven of Rockwell, Jennifer Burgin and husband Billy of Iron Station, Joshua Moffitt and fiancée Katie of Cramerton, Kevin “Scottie” Moffitt and wife Deana of Kannapolis, Alan Moffitt and wife Desiree of China Grove and Amanda Westfall and husband James of Concord; and granddaughter-in-law, Cyndi Boyd. All his grandchildren loved him and it is well spoken by their tributes by some of his grandchildren. We’ve lost another one from the Greatest Generation.

He served God. He served his country. He led his family.

What an incredible example of a husband, father and grandfather. He took his last breath this morning and opened his eyes to our Savior and his beloved Rosie of 69 years and 9 months (as he always said). You were the glue that held us together and the greatest fisherman this world has known.

I hope the boat was loaded and the wind was calm for you. Save me a rod and minnows, we will have a lot to talk about one day. You were always my hero.

Until that day, kiss Granny for me. We will miss you deeply. We love you Pa!

The family would like to thank Tucker Hospice House for the wonderful care for the last three weeks and to Dr. Robert Levy and Staff of Kannapolis.
