Obituary for William Q Baraby William Q. Baraby SFC (R), 48 of Elizabethtown, KY passed away after battling a long illness. SFC Baraby was born in Queens, New York on August 3, 1969. A graduate of Whitney Point High School (New York), he entered the United States Marine Corp in 1988, where he served a tour in Operation Desert Shield, as well as Operation Desert Storm.

SFC Baraby met his loving wife a week before deploying for the Gulf War in 1990. They wrote letters while he was gone, and eloped when he returned, a year later. They have been married ever since.

Upon completion of his enlistment, Baraby enlisted into the Missouri National Guard and the US Army where he completed his military career and retired out of Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Earning his college degree along the way, SFC Baraby was a highly decorated military veteran, and he returned to a home the family had purchased while stationed at Ft. Knox, Kentucky.

SFC Baraby loved living in the state of Kentucky, and once retired, went on to work as a DOD Civilian. SFC Baraby was an avid Steelers fan who loved to fish and golf. He adored his granddaughter, who was the light of his life.

SFC Baraby was incredibly proud of his children, including three who enlisted in the United States Military. Baraby is survived by his wife of almost 27 years, Candida (Golden) Baraby (PhD); three sons: Anthony (USN) (Jasmine), Tyler (video design artist) and Blake (USMC) (Krista); two daughters: Haley (USAF) and Kerilyn (WKU); a granddaughter, Maddie; two daughters-in-law; both parents, four brothers, two sisters, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. There will be a memorial service with Military Honors at Manakee Funeral Home of Elizabethtown at 7:00 PM.
