William Thornton King, 80 of 6718 Gabrielle Pointe, Whitsett, North Carolina, transitioned in his home on June 21, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born the son of Reverend William Mack King and Norma Harris King, both deceased. He was born in Kinston, North Carolina and attended the local schools.

Following his graduation, he soon after enlisted into the United States Navy and was Honorably Discharged. While in New York, he met the lovely Edna Walker and the two became one. They made their home in New York for several years.

He was a great provider for his family, having worked for the New York Police Department and retired from the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier. Following retirement he and many of his family members relocated to North Carolina. He was a loving and caring individual who will be greatly missed.

He leaves loving memories to his caring and devoted wife: Edna W. King; two daughters: Lucyita King-Goins and Karroll King; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and two sisters: Willie Veulah Burnett (Sam) and Luvenia Allen and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two children: William T. King, Jr. “Billy” and Leticia Wheeler and seven siblings: Norman King, Mack King, George King, Martha King, Lodecia King, Ruth King and Madline King.
