William V. Hoyt February 17, 1937 – February 10, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries William Vernor Hoyt, 81, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died on February 10, 2019 in his home. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut on February 17, 1937, he was the son of Fred Hoyt and Lois MacNeill. William served in the United States Army in his youth.

He attended Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar and Walter C. Teagle Fellow. He graduated with a Masters in Business Administration and went on to work at the U.S. Department of Commerce and Marsh and McLennan. He later established a career in corporate finance with International Business Machines (IBM) from which he retired.

He also served as an executive with Preferred Healthcare. William is survived by his wife, Susan Lombard Hoyt; four siblings, Daniel, David, Barbara and Rick; three sons, William, Edward and Walter; two daughters, Kathryn and Anne; and seven grandchildren, Bethany, Elena, Abigail, Wyatt, Charley, Zachary and Jacqueline. A private service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at All Saints Episcopal Chapel.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to either the Stafford County SPCA at 140 Andrew Chapel Road, Stafford, Virginia 22554, www. staffordspca.org or to Grace Episcopal Church (for the support of All Saints Episcopal Chapel), 5607 Gordonsville Road, Keswick, Virginia 22947.
