Obituary of William Herring William “Bill” Herring, 86, passed away in his Tavares, Florida, home at 5:17 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018. He was born in Marion on June 12, 1932, to the late William E. and Dorothy M. (Johns) Herring. He married his loving wife, Aramatta “Artie” Herring in 1993, and she survives.

Bill was a graduate of Mississinewa High School and was a master mechanic in truck repair. He retired from General Motors in 1996 and, after retirement, sold real estate in Grant County. He was a member of Moose Lodge and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Working on cars with his son was always very special to him whenever they had an opportunity to do so. Bill also loved his dog, D-Dog, who died a few months prior to Bill’s death. In addition to his wife of 25 years, Artie, he is survived by his children, Bill (Della) Herring, Statesboro, Georgia, Tina (Clyde) Doublin, Marion, and John “Kenny” Herring, Marion; step-daughters, Cindy (Rob) Wimmer, Greentown, and Tammy Schieber, Waynedale; step-son, Troy (Traci) Veach, Marion; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Violet Tews, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Judy Webb, Brooksville, Florida, David (Betty) Herring, Lebanon, Terry (Pam) Herring, Brooksville, Florida, Bonnie (Scott) Swank, Indianapolis, Linda (Dennis) Brown, Gas City, and Don (Mello) Herring, Jonesboro.

The family will have a memorial service for Bill at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Gardens of Memory Memorial Chapel, 11201 S. Marion Rd. -35, Marion, IN. Pastor Mark Atkinson will be officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. , Marion, IN. Memorial contributions may be directed to Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952.
