William E. Mann, 89, passed away in Jacksonville, FL on November 9, 2018. Mr. Mann was born September 1, 1929 in Jacksonville, FL to parents Virgil and Doris Mann. William lettered in both the band and the football team at Andrew Jackson High School graduating in 1948 going on to attend Boy’s State.

During that time he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and Explorer. On September 3rd, 1949 he married his high school sweetheart Audrey Martin. They would be happily married for almost the next 66 years until her death in 2015.

In 1948 William enlisted in the Florida National Guard serving through the Korean War receiving an honorable discharge in 1956. In 1952 he joined the Freemasons of the Riverview Lodge and served as Past-Master for 3 years. Mr. Mann was also member of the order of the Red Cross of Constantine.

William had always been known as a gentleman and a devoted loving husband and father who stressed the importance of doing the right thing. Mr. Mann is survived by his son, Steven H. (Karen) Mann; daughter, Julie Mann (Hal) Rathjen; grandchildren, Kate, Jon and James; brother Carlton (Nancy) Mann and their children; sister-in-law Susan Martin Wyatt and her children. The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am Saturday November 17, 2018 at Avondale United Methodist Church, 1651 Talbot Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32205.

Funeral services will begin at 11am with Senior Pastor Clare Chance officiating. Burial will be at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery.
