William R. Scott, 91, of Owensboro went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at his home. He was born on July 21, 1927 in Rumsey to the late Jacob Mansfield Scott and Fronie Priscilla McEuen Scott. William attended Pack School and graduated from Calhoun High School, and was of the Baptist faith.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He moved to Florida in the late 1950’s and moved back to Kentucky in 1983. He retired from the Executive Inn as a Security Guard.

William loved working on lawnmowers and cars, telling stories that many times turned into big tales, and making people laugh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mildred Allen Scott, on February 9, 2008; a son, Wallace Ray Scott, in 2000; and siblings, Mansfield Scott, Ewart Scott, Dr. Samuel Scott, Elizabeth Scott, and Eugenia O’Dell. Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Sparks and her husband, Jim, of Owensboro; a son, Tony Scott of Winter Park, FL; two daughters-in-law, Carol Scott of Tampa, FL and Mitzi Scott of Apopka, FL; eight grandchildren, Ryan Scott, Summer Scott Wright, Nicholas Scott, Brandon Sparks, Amanda Sparks Collier, Chelsea Sparks, Melissa Ashley and Jamie Sparks; and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:00pm on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Owensboro Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jerry Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11:30am until 12:30pm on Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory.
