Mrs. Yvonne Loretta Ward, 65, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 3, after an extended illness. Yvonne was born on February 24, 1953 in Cassopolis, MI to the late Paul E. Sr. and Ida Mae (Goins) Pace. Yvonne spent most of her life in South Bend.

On June 3, 1972, she was united in marriage to Vernon Ward, who survives. Together, Yvonne and Vernon raised a daughter, Tara. Yvonne spent many years self-employed as a tax preparation specialist and was the proud grandmother of four.

She was a faithful member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church and cherished the time she spent with friends and loved ones. Mrs. Yvonne Ward is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Vernon Ward and daughter Tara N. (Lenny) Maez of South Bend. She is also survived by her four beautiful grandchildren: Mykala, Alaya, Troy and Arianna; sisters Mia Hughes of North Carolina and Sharon Pace of South Bend; stepmother Dachel Pace; brothers Paul Pace Jr., David L Pace, Tony (Christina) Pace and Joseph (Emma) Pace, all of South Bend; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ida Mae. A Memorial Service will be held in Yvonne’s honor on Friday, June 8 at 4:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend. Friends may call on the family for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
