Obituary for Abram N. Hoover Abram N. Hoover, 91, formerly of South Annville Twp. , passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. He was the husband of the late H. Jean Metzler Hoover who passed away on October 2, 2017.

Born in Bareville, PA on March 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Harry O. and Bertha M. Hoover. Abram was a pastor for over 25 years at Gingrichs Mennonite Church, W. Cornwall Twp. where he especially enjoyed his visitation ministry and was very involved with the Lancaster Mennonite Conference activities.

Abram also owned and operated a dairy and beef farm in South Annville Twp. which is presently in its 3rd generation. His greatest farming passion was feeding beef cattle.

He also began Abram Hoover Wood Shavings in the late 1980’s and it continues today as a family business. Abram and his late wife served as a host for the Recovery of Hope Program through Philhaven Hospital and was hosted various tour groups overseas. He was a former member of the Agway Advisory Committee and the Lehigh Valley Farmers Dairy Co-op.

Surviving are four sons, Dale L., husband of Charlotte Hoover of Lebanon, Nevin R., husband of Eileen Hoover of Annville, Dean L., husband of Mary Ann Hoover of Lebanon, Reid K., husband of Diane Hoover of Lebanon; daughter, Karen J., wife of Edwin Copenhaver of Annville; sister, Alta Ranck of Lititz; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harlan, Lester, and Lloyd Hoover; and a sister, Erla Bentley. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Gingrichs Mennonite Church, 100 Forney Road, Lebanon, PA 17042.

A viewing will be held at the Church on Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. with an informal visitation held immediately following the service on Monday. Interment will be private in Gingrichs Mennonite Cemetery. Contributions may be made to his Church or to Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim, PA 17545 in his memory.
