Obituary for Agnes Schrauwen (Ebers) SCHRAUWEN-Agnes Schrauwen (Ebers), age 102, of Alpine Township, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 17, 2018. Agnes was born to Pearley and Frances (Brechting) Ebers in 1916, on the family farm in Alpine. Her mother died when Agnes was just 9 years old, and at a very early age she was raising her two younger siblings as well as running the farm household, most of the time without electricity or running water.

Agnes eventually moved to the city, at one time working for R.C. Allen making parts for the war effort. She later met and married Frank Schrauwen who preceded her in death in 1982. In their 23 years together they enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, playing cards (Setback), and spending time with family at the Platte cottage.

Agnes was an excellent cook and seamstress, and loved to dance ‘in her day. ’ She had an incredible work ethic and was a devout Catholic and active member of Holy Trinity Church. She was a true believer in the power of prayer, with Rosaries and holy cards stashed throughout her home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank; sisters, Florentine Graham Tate, Emeline Read, Marian Platte; and brothers, John Ebers, Wilfred Ebers and infant Harold. Agnes is survived by many nieces and nephews and a foster daughter, Madelyn. A very special thanks to the caring staff, Sisters and residents of St. Ann’s Nursing Home.
